Where’s the beef? Parts 1 and 2

I was commissioned by The Wapping Project to create a piece of art that could be exhibited outside of the main gallery space.
I staged an alternative dining experience by projecting the preparation of food that visitors to the gallery would be eating, from butchering to final presentation, directly onto their dining tables and plates.

I filmed expert chefs for 3 weeks through staged and actual restaurant shifts. The mass of footage was edited into two 90 minute films. (The average length of a meal.) And projected onto two tables. Parts 1 and 2 had different structures, following subtly a male and female connection with food. It was an experiment in the manipulation of food tastes by visual distraction.
